State of Balboa Park

I continue to enjoy volunteering at San Diego’s Balboa Park Visitors Center representing Forever Balboa Park. In my capacity as CEO/Founder of Global Conservation Leaders, I attended Mayor Todd Gloria’s State of Balboa Park address on May 24 at the San Diego Natural History Museum.

Mayor Gloria promised to dedicate appropriate resources to maintain and improve the “Crown Jewel” of San Diego. He highlighted the complete renovation of the Botanical Building, the reworking of nearby streets to improve bussing and biking space along with several other urban planning improvements. The Mayor spoke of his appreciation for all the volunteers who give their time to maintain the beautiful gardens as well as to the guides and ambassadors who volunteer for the Forever Balboa Park Visitor Center.

San Diego’s Balboa Park dates back to the early 19th century making it one of the nation’s oldest public parks. It is comprised of 1,200 acres of urban green space supporting 16 museums, 65 miles of trails and the internationally renowned San Diego Zoo.

I am incredibly proud to represent such a beautiful and historic landmark here in San Diego.
