Clairemont Garden Tour May 4, 2024

Joy and Congresswoman Sara Jacobs

Global Conservation Leaders Founder/CEO Joy Wolf attended the 27th annual Clairemont Garden Tour May 4. She joined members from St. David’s Episcopal Church, and attendees we were able to meet and talk with many people.  The weather was lovely and Cadman was a nice host site. Gardens featured canyon views, waterwise landscaping, native plants, succulents, bromeliads and vegetables. Educators were available for instruction on a variety of topics including composting, vector control, food dehydration and more.

I was delighted by the number of people who knew about St. David’s – several asked about our labyrinth. Our information and display table was next to the Garza 5 Quintet, a local group of Mesa College/San Diego State musicians. They played lively jazz and Latin standards from 10 a.m. to noon.

Joy was able to meet and speak with Congresswoman Sara Jacobs, who was delightful and very interested in supporting the community of Clairemont.  She encouraged us to contact her office if there are issues or items that are important to us that she should know about.   She also invited St. David’s parishioners heading to Washington, D.C. to contact her office for passes to visit the White House and the U.S. Capitol.

Joy and District 2 City Councilmember Dr. Jennifer Campbell

Joy also was able to connect with San Diego City Councilmember Dr. Jennifer Campbell (District 2).  She offered to come and speak at our parish to address any local issues that we would like to know more about.  She said if we have any trouble getting future plans approved to let her know and she would be willing to help.

It was a wonderful day of sunshine, gardens and connecting with the community.
