Joy Wolf Honored for Balboa Park Volunteer Efforts
Joy Wolf, Global Conservation Leaders Founder and CEO, was recognized during the Forever Balboa Park Volunteer Appreciation Dinner April 7, 2022. Joy is seen here with Dr. Elizabeth Babcock, CEO of Forever Balboa Park.
Since retiring, Joy spends one to two days each week volunteering at the Forever Balboa Park Visitors Center. Joy enjoys supporting the Jewel of San Diego, Balboa Park, while welcoming guests from all over the world.
Balboa Park began in 1868 when 1,400 acres of land was set aside and known as “City Park.” During preparations to host the 1915 Panama-California Exposition, the park was renamed Balboa Park in honor of Spanish-born explorer Vasco Nuñez de Balboa.
Today, Balboa Park spans 1,200 acres, is home to 600 animal species and several million plants. Visitors can explore the more than 20 museums, cultural venues, gardens and attractions, including the San Diego Zoo.
Joy is happiest talking to guests, “Balboa Park is a wonderful venue for tourists as well as a favorite of local San Diegans. It truly lives up to its reputation as the Jewel of San Diego, and I’m proud to be part of the Forever Balboa Park family.”
