Joy L. Wolf Trust

Joy Wolf is the youngest daughter of Robert and Lorraine Holt. She was known as “J4” and spent her life trying to match or exceed the accomplishments of her sisters and make her parents proud. Joy’s family is very important to her, and she credits her success to being raised in a loving environment.

Joy started her career at SeaWorld San Diego while completing her degree at San Diego State University. That summer job turned into 30 years of educating people and working to save the planet. Joy left SeaWorld as the Director of Conservation Education and, after a brief stint in Albuquerque, she evolved from the water onto land becoming the Director of Operations - Guest Connections/Education at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. Her 10-year career helped expand Joy’s world and love for our planet.

Joy has been active in social issues that trace back to helping the San Diego Unified School District bring Project Workability to SeaWorld and helping foster access for all people to work at and enjoy SeaWorld. While at San Diego Zoo Safari Park, she was part of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums Diversity Committee. Joy chaired the Diversity Summit for three years helping to bring justice, equity, diversity, access and inclusion to the forefront for all zoos.

Joy’s justice work is also a product of her involvement with the Episcopal Diocese Sacred Ground program.  The Episcopal Presiding Bishop Michael Curry and Father Paul Boyle, HomeBoy Industries, have inspired her to take action, to use her faith and life experiences to make the world a more just environment for all people.

Upon retiring, Joy began volunteering for the San Diego Zoo and the Balboa Park Conservancy. She kept engaged in her community while considering what else she could do for people and the planet.

Global Conservation Leaders allows Joy to put her passion for people and the planet to work.
