Mission Wildlife Brunch Benefits the Ethiopian Wolf and Spectacled Bear

On September 29, the Mission Wildlife fundraising brunch took place, bringing together conservationists and animal lovers to support two critical programs: the Ethiopian Wolf Conservation Programme (EWCP) and the Spectacled Bear Conservation Society (SBCS). Both organizations work tirelessly to protect endangered species in their native habitats.

Global Conservation Leaders was the Wolf Conservation level of the sponsors, which was fitting for Founder and CEO, Joy Wolf. As part of the sponsorship, Joy received a stunning wolf painting that was painted on-the-spot by world-renowned artist, Stephen Fishwick. Mr. Fishwick takes brush to an upside-down canvas, and after adding seemingly disparate flourishes of color, he then flips the painting right-side up to reveal the awe-inspiring result.

The event featured a myriad of animals including a fennec fox, alligator, sloth, chinchilla, vulture and many more, which gave guests up-close experiences to learn more about them. The event also included wildlife experts, auctioned items and moving keynotes on the importance of preserving the Ethiopian wolf and spectacled bear species.

The Ethiopian wolf, the world’s rarest canid, faces threats from habitat loss and disease, while the spectacled bear, the only bear species native to South America, is vulnerable due to habitat loss, habitat fragmentation and human-wildlife conflict.

All proceeds will help fund essential research, education and habitat preservation efforts. By coming together, attendees contributed to a brighter future for these unique animals, ensuring they remain a part of our world for generations to come.
